Für mein Projekt in Eckernförde hatte ich eine Kooperation mit dem Marinestützpunkt geplant, der bedingt durch die Coronasituation nicht umgesetzt wurde. Jeden Morgen bei Sonnenaufgang ging ich zum Strand und nahm den Kranzfelder Hafen und den Marinestützpunkt mit Blick in die Bucht auf. Es entstand eine Serie von Fotografien, die genau das zeigen, was alle touristischen Fotografien versuchen auszublenden: das Militärgebiet.
Die Fotografien werden mit schriftlichen Aussagen von Marinesoldaten,
in Ausbildung oder auch vor Einsätzen verbunden.

The view from the beach across the bay towards Kranzfeld Harbour.
For my project in Eckernförde, I had planned a collaboration with the naval base, which could not go ahead due to the coronavirus situation. Every morning at sunrise, I went to the beach and photographed the Kranzfeld Harbour and the naval base, looking out across the bay. The result was a series of photographs that show precisely what all tourist photographs try to hide: the military zone. The photographs will be accompanied by written statements from marines, both those in training and those preparing for deployment.

Kranzfelder Hafen
Alfred Kranzfelder war Korvettenkapitän im Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine und wurde als Widerstandskämpfer de 20. Juni 1944 ermordet. Im Gedenken an Kranzfelder hat die Bundesmarine ihren Stützpunkt und Tiefwasserhafen in Eckernförde „Kranzfelder-Hafen“ benannt.
Kranzfelder Harbour
Alfred Kranzfelder was a Lieutenant Commander in the High Command of the Kriegsmarine and was murdered on 20 June 1944 as a member of the resistance. In memory of Kranzfelder, the German Navy has named its base and deep-water harbour in Eckernförde ‘Kranzfelder Harbour’.
